While conflict is inevitable, how we respond to it helps to shape how it develops. With proven conflict management techniques, you can minimize the negative impact of conflict, keep relationships on track and lower your stress. In this live workshop, you will learn and practice strategies to effectively prevent and manage conflict. Techniques covered include: de-escalating emotionally-charged situations, successfully communicating your needs and lowering others’ defenses. You will have the opportunity to put these strategies into practice by developing approaches to realistic conflict scenarios.
Upon completion of this workshop, learners will earn the Conflict Competence Pathway Micro-credential, an online micro-credential badge program offered by the GradPathways Institute for Professional Development and the Ombuds Office.
This workshop consists of:
1) a 3-hour interactive instruction session that substitutes for the following microbadges: Understanding and Recognizing Conflict, Preparing to Address Conflict, and Addressing Conflict;
(2) Pizza Lunch, and
(3) a 1.5-hour practice session, for which learners will earn the Conflict Management Practice Microbadge.
